Portland, OR is "Cleanest City" in USA

Reader's Digest recently conducted a survey entitled "The Fifty Cleanest Cities in America." Its final list was based on a number of factors, including drinking water quality. Here are the cities that scored a perfect 50 points for water quality:
Portland, San Jose, Buffalo, Columbus, San Francisco, Denver, San Diego, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Riverside (CA).

While it's always a good idea to inquire about the quality of your local municipal water supply, the United States has some of the cleanest drinking water in the world. The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 set standards for approximately 90 contaminants in drinking water.

If you're interested in learning more about the drinking water in your community, the Environmental Protection Agency hosts a collection of annual drinking water reports, organized by region. You can also investigate your local drinking water specifics with this interactive map.

While researching this topic, we came across a number of interesting articles examining the relative cleanliness of bottled water. As it turns out, approximately thirty percent of bottled water sold in the United States comes from municipal sources (i.e., it's somebody's tap water).

Search Portland area homes for sale

I just added a new search engine to my website which is much more functional! Search anywher in the Metro area.. Milwaukie, Portland, Tualatin, Oregon City, Beaverton, WEst Linn, Newberg... everywhere!

When you to go to Home Search make sure to use the Automated search function! It's the little square box, outlined in red on the search page. By entering your search criteria and saving it, the computer will send you automatic daily updates of new listings which match your criteria.. along with the property address. What a time saver, eh?

I would really appreciate you feedback on this new function. We will have mapping function for it soon, too. Go to the map and click on the area you're interested in and all matching listing in that area will pop up!

Clackamas County Home Sales- Prices and Activity

Ok, that's not a picture of Clackamas County. It's the Oregon beach, ok?

Anyway, most people are interested, or curious, in having a better understanding of current market conditions for homes sold in nearby communities. I have selected North Clackamas communities of Canby, Clackamas, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, and Oregon City for analysis. I think you'll appreciate the differences between average list prices to actual sale prices. Note that "days to sell" is prety short- unless the seller has inflated his/her price and it remains active/unsold. Note the average days on market for "sold" listings.

This report includes a quick summary for actual home prices for homes sold in the area. The sales were pulled from the MLS records for the past 3 months in each area. The Active listings were also pulled from the MLS and reflect a current "snapshot" of inventory- average list prices, days on market, average sq feet, etc.
